Philosophy Paper Topics

Philosophy Paper TopicsWhat is Philosophy? Philosophy can be defined as a body of knowledge that helps us solve and understand various types of questions. To be able to describe what philosophy is, we must first define what it is not, or more precisely, what it is not about.Philosophy is a broad field of study that deals with a variety of questions. Philosophers differ in their interpretations, but all agree that philosophy deals with how we should live our lives. A philosopher is someone who studies the meaning of life, or what we mean by saying we live in life. For some, this is an easy question, while for others, such as Descartes, there seems to be no end to how many different questions that you can ask before you get the same answer.Descartes said that we should try to live in such a way that we will have no need for our bodies. So, we should have lived without using our bodies for the purpose of survival. He was against Darwinism and believed that the human body is not suited f or living in the natural environment. Even if the world had been perfect, he believed that the human body was so designed that it would continue to need food, water, air, and proper clothing, rather than depend on these for its survival. Thus, his philosophy is that we should live without bodies because they are no longer needed to survive.Descartes made it clear that he does not believe in the immortality of the soul. In fact, he was against the idea of a soul. This meant that his philosophy would not be based on an afterlife, which he believed did not exist. However, he did believe in the idea of an absolute time. He also believed that there was such a thing as fate, meaning that whatever we do would determine the future.Descartes believed that there were certain thoughts that cause certain things to happen, and that these thoughts have a direct effect on the reality of what we see. These are called the essential thoughts. One of these thoughts is time. Time is the only reality an d therefore, time is what drives everything we see in the world.Descartes also believed that there was no such thing as free will. He believed that there is nothing we can do or say that will have any effect on our destiny, meaning that we cannot change the course of events, even though there are those who do. Therefore, his philosophy deals with how to control the uncontrollable. In other words, what Descartes believed in was that nothing happens by chance. Everything that we see and experience is the result of our thoughts and actions. Thus, he believed that our minds can have any affect on the world around us. However, he was very adamant that he did not believe in any afterlife. The theory of his philosophy is that our minds are the sole reality, and all other realities are just illusions.Since Descartes died, philosophy has changed very little. The only major change in philosophy would be the introduction of Wittgenstein's 'logic'. However, his philosophy is still widely used to day as people find the basics of it to be very appealing. Like philosophy, philosophy paper topics will continue to be used in seminars and classes until the day that the human mind finally dies.
